When the investor tasked us with designing a private whiskey cellar featuring a social area and a small apartment, we drew inspiration from the speakeasy bars of the American Prohibition era.
The social area and whiskey bar are concealed behind a hidden automated sliding bookshelf, with a circular staircase leading down to the basement. This staircase is flanked by custom-built shelves that house an extensive collection of rare and limited-edition whiskey bottles.
Influenced by the American modernist luxury design aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s, we infused the space with the spirit of 1920s speakeasy bars. Special attention was given to the finishes and custom-designed details, highlighted by subtle lighting precisely positioned to emphasize the intimate atmosphere. This unique space is dedicated to socializing and catering to true whiskey connoisseurs.
